Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could keep the looks we had in our youth, and yet have the wisdom which old age brings? We would know exactly which things to pursue in life, and how to take better care of ourselves. People generally tend to pay attention to their looks and health when the first signs of old age or some problems appear, and even start despairing thinking that the damage done by time is irreversible. Luckily, this is not always the case.
Avoid overexposure to sun rays
Pigmentation occurs simply because there are unusual localizations of melanin in your skin. While melanin gives our skin its color, once its deposits are above average, we get blemishes and spots. While pigmentation does occur because of old age, but overexposure to sun rays and excessive sunbathing may increase the number of dark spots on your skin. Modern sunscreens are designed to prevent the damage to our skin, so make sure you apply at least a light coat of it on before you leave your home. What is more, make sure you have a hat and a pair of sunglasses on at all times – it will make you look stylish while simultaneously protecting your skin.
Almond face masks
If you have already noticed some dark spots on your skin, do not be alarmed. These are easily removed and your skin will retain its fairness and smoothness. All you need to do is make an almond skin mask and apply it in the morning before you leave for work. Leave four or five almonds in a bit of water overnight, and in the morning crush them with a bit of milk to get granular paste. Apply the paste, leave it to dry for about twenty minutes, and wash off using cold water which will close your pores. This mask will make your skin fairer and smoother at the same time and it’s completely natural.
You probably already know how beneficial cucumber is for your skin: it hydrates your skin and restores its healthy glow. However, cucumber also has wonderful anti-ageing benefits and can help fight skin pigmentation. Make a mixture of cucumber with a bit of lemon juice: use a blender to get a smooth paste or simply use cucumber juice with lemon juice; and apply it to your skin. It soothes and hydrates dry skin, and at the same times reduces the pigmentation on your face. You can also use the mixture on your hands if you see the need for it.
Anyone who has ever tried it will state that turmeric truly is a miracle product. It does wonders not only for your skin, but also for your hair, and there are indications that it can help you with inflammation since it has anti-bacterial properties. Make a thick paste using a spoonful of flour, turmeric, and lemon juice, apply to your face and leave for fifteen minutes. After that, wash it off using warm water and either leave your skin to dry naturally or gently dab your face with a clean towel (don’t rub). You will notice that your skin tone is lighter than usual and that pigmentation spots are less visible too.
Skin pigmentation is completely natural, and even if you’re not too thrilled to spot the first signs of it upon your hands, neck, or face, you should not panic because it doesn’t mean you became old overnight. Remember to always take good care of your skin: use natural and gentle products, and lead a healthy lifestyle. These things will make you look good, but also feel good no matter how old you are.
